My Intro: I'm an air traffic controller at Washington Center (ZDC) in northern Virginia. It's a radar facility, not a control tower. I take care of airplanes while they're in between their departure and arrival airports. My sectors are in charge of the airspace over parts of North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware.
I am also a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol squadron based at the Leesburg Executive Airport (JYO), near Dulles. CAP is the aviation version of the volunteer fire department. When people or airplanes are lost, missing, in need of help, we go look for them.
In my spare time I'm a freelance flight instructor. I provide training and contract pilot services to airplane owners in the northern Virginia/mid-Maryland area.
